Bus. There are no direct buses from Edinburgh to Skye. However, you can travel with Citylink from Edinburgh via either Glasgow or Inverness to Portree (the main town on Skye) and this journey takes between 8 and 13 hours. Once you get to Portree you need to take a tour or taxi to explore Skye (see links above), as the sights are scattered.
